When people buy locks, they are generally worried that the locks are not durable or the surface will rust or oxidize soon after use. This problem is related to the materials used and surface treatment.
From the perspective of durability, the best material should be stainless steel, especially for surface materials, the more you use it, the brighter it will be. It has good strength, strong corrosion resistance and unchanged color. However, there are many types of stainless steel, mainly divided into ferrite and austenite. Ferritic stainless steel is magnetic, commonly known as stainless steel. It will rust for a long time and in bad environment. Only austenitic stainless steel will not rust. The identification method is very simple. You can identify it with a magnet.
Copper is one of the most widely used lock materials. It has good mechanical properties, good corrosion resistance and processing performance, and has a bright color. Especially forged copper handles and other lock decoration parts, the surface is flat, good density, no air holes, Trachoma. It is strong and rust-proof, and can be used to plate 24K gold or placer gold and other surface treatments. It looks magnificent, noble and generous, and adds a lot of color to people’s homes.
Zinc alloy materials have much worse strength and anti-rust ability, but its advantage is that it is easy to make parts with complex patterns, especially pressure casting. The locks with more complicated patterns seen on the market are most likely to be made of zinc alloy, and consumers must carefully identify them.
Steel has good strength and low cost, but it is easy to rust. It is generally used as a material for the internal structure of locks and is not suitable for external decoration.
Aluminum or aluminum alloy, ordinary aluminum alloy (except for aerospace use) is soft and light, and the material strength is low, but it is easy to process and shape.
Surface treatment
Surface treatment generally refers to the use of metal electrodeposition (commonly known as electroplating), painting (called spraying), chemical oxidation (coloring) or other processing methods to cover or form a protective film on the surface of the part. The film mainly plays a role of anti-corrosion, while also increasing the appearance and durability of the product, which is an important factor that directly measures the quality of the product. Common methods for measuring surface treatment include: thickness measurement of covering layer, bonding force inspection, salt spray and humidity test, appearance inspection, etc. The coating is carried out by methods such as coating film adhesion, hardness, moisture test and appearance inspection.
Introduction of my country’s new door lock standard
The new door lock standard of our country was released in June 2000 and implemented in October 2000. There are 4 original national standards for door lock products. (Including GB8385-97 “Exterior Door Locks”; GB8386-87 “Marble Mortise Door Locks”; GB8387-“Blade Mortise Door Locks” and GB8388-87 “Spherical Door Locks” were converted to QB/ T3837-1999, QB/T3838-1999, QB/T3839-1999 and QB/T3840-1999) were released and implemented in 1988. However, with the continuous development of the market economy, door lock products have undergone great changes. The product variety is continuously enriched and the quality level is continuously improved. The original national standards and professional standards are far from being able to meet the technical requirements for door lock quality under the new situation. Especially since my country’s entry into WTO is imminent, economic globalization is imperative, and the grade and quality of our door lock products must be improved. In order to be in line with international standards, in order to narrow the gap with developed countries in the world, it is conducive to eliminate trade barriers, increase exports and earn foreign exchange, so as to promote the development of my country’s lock industry and participate in international competition. Therefore, the original door lock standards must be revised, and the National Light Industry Bureau and the National Daily Hardware Standardization Center respectively issued notices to revise the original four door lock standards. The original marble door lock (SG205-80) and the exterior double tongue door lock (GB8385-87) are combined, and the double buckle (tiger) door lock is added to become the exterior door lock standard. The current light industry standard QB is the revised new standard.
The revised principle of the new standard is: on the basis of the original standard, it can only be improved, not lowered. It is necessary to fundamentally reverse the backwardness of my country’s low-grade products, low prices, and poor technological level, adopt a policy of careful study and differentiated treatment, and make revisions in light of China’s actual conditions. In the revision process, different degrees of non-equivalent use of American ANSI (American National Standard), British BS (British National Standard) and JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) and other advanced foreign standards as the basis. At the same time, in accordance with the requirements of national laws and regulations, combined with the actual situation of the product, in the process of standard revision, classification regulations were made according to different needs. The exterior door locks and spherical door locks are divided into two categories, A and B, which are basically clear Distinguish the difference between high-end villas, apartments and commercial houses and unit houses.
The newly revised standard requires higher than the original standard. The main indicators of Grade A products of exterior door locks have reached the level of Grade B in British BS5872. Grade B products are higher than the original standard in my country, but lower than Grade B products in British BS5872 (Note: The ratio of grade B products in British BS standard A grade is high), the A grade of the spherical door lock, its main indicators are close to the American ANSI/BAMA.A156.2-1996 secondary lock level. The main indicators of Grade B products are close to the level of ANSI/BA, A.A156.2-1996 middle grade three locks, and are much higher than the original standard in my country. Therefore, my country’s revised door lock standards QB/T2473-2000, QB/T2475-2000, QB/T2474-2000 and QB/T2476-2000 are all higher than the original standards.
Consider before buying
Consumers should consider the following aspects before buying locks.
1. The place used and its importance.
That is, consider using it in frontage gates, hall doors, rooms, bathrooms or passages in order to select products suitable for the required functions.
2. Use environment, conditions and requirements.
The advantages and disadvantages of the use environment should be considered, such as dry humidity, door structure, thickness, left or right door, inner or outer door, to prevent buying the wrong product.
3. Consider the coordination with the decorative environment.
According to one’s own preferences, the coordination and matching of the product should be considered when purchasing the product.
4. Consider the status of family members
Consider whether there are elderly, children, or disabled people in the home, and choose products that are convenient for him or her to use.
5. Consider economic affordability
Considering the family’s economic situation, those with sufficient economy can buy high-end products, and those with unsatisfactory economy can choose lower-grade products. However, no matter whether you choose high-end or low-end products, you must consider whether the production enterprise is strong and the quality is stable. It is recommended to choose products from well-known companies to avoid financial losses and unnecessary troubles and troubles in daily life.
6. Consider the credibility and service level of the dealer
Prevent some distributors from recommending counterfeit and shoddy products to consumers based on their own interests.
How to choose when buying
When buying lock products, you should pay attention to the following
1. Products from companies with high reputation, stable quality and good after-sales service should be selected.
2. First check whether the markings and markings of the purchased product packaging are complete (including product implementation standards, grades, production company name, address, and production date) whether the packaging is firm, whether the contents of the instructions are consistent with the product, and be careful not to exaggerate. The facts do not match.
3. Observe the appearance and quality of the product, including whether the lock head, lock body, lock tongue, handle and cover parts and related supporting parts are complete, whether the surface color of the electroplated parts and painted parts is bright and uniform, and whether there are signs of rust or oxidation And breakage.
4. Check whether the use function of the product is reliable and flexible. Two or more products should be selected for comparison inspection, especially when purchasing two-way lock products, all keys must be used to test the inner and outer locks respectively. The insurance organization of the product should also be checked. It is recommended to try each lock at least three times.
5. Then check the tooth pattern of the key, such as five key teeth, each key should have no less than three different key teeth, and the first tooth and the fifth tooth should try not to choose the deepest key tooth, which is beneficial to the key Plug and unplug and not easy to break.
