On June 12, Dongfeng Sharing-VAN 1.0 Plus, the first domestic L4-level 5G self-driving car independently developed by Dongfeng Motor Group Technology Center (hereinafter referred to as “Dongfeng Technology Center”), was in the product project of Dongfeng Technology Center Mass production of part of the trial production line went offline.
    This is a new breakthrough made by the Dongfeng Technology Center in deepening the R&D transformation and implementing “market-oriented and customer-centric” to achieve R&D efficiency. The new fruits produced indicate that the Dongfeng Technology Center has the capability of the entire value chain from product development to mass production and sales, and will provide strong support for the accelerated commercialization of research and development products.

    After rolling off the assembly line, the first batch of 6 Dongfeng Sharing-VAN 1.0 Plus will drive to the National Marine Laboratory in Qingdao City, Shandong Province, and carry out operations such as manned ferry and goods transportation in the smart park. Up to now, Dongfeng Sharing-VAN 1.0 Plus has received orders for more than 70 new vehicles from Beijing, Zhejiang, Guangdong, Hunan and other places, involving multiple models such as unmanned micro-buses, unmanned logistics vehicles, and cleaning and killing vehicles.
    Tan Minqiang said at the offline ceremony that Dongfeng Sharing-VAN 1.0 Plus is the latest achievement of Dongfeng’s exploration of a new model of shared travel, and it is also another milestone event for Dongfeng Technology Center to promote technology commercialization. The mass production of Dongfeng Sharing-VAN 1.0 Plus promoted the reform of the “three systems” of the Dongfeng Technology Center, profoundly changing the thinking and concepts of technical personnel, and also showed that the Dongfeng Technology Center has formed an industrialized production capacity. The industrialization and commercialization of the driving car sector has also started a new journey of transformation and development of Dongfeng’s technology center, which will help Dongfeng achieve high-quality development.
    Dongfeng Sharing-VAN, developed the project in September 2018, carried out conceptual design, and developed the first prototype in 6 months. On April 2, 2019, Dongfeng, Xiangyang, and Huawei jointly organized the “Zhixing Longzhong” It debuted at the event; half a month later, at the Shanghai Auto Show on April 16, Dongfeng Sharing-VAN Business was officially launched; 22 months later, after 3 iterations of development by the R&D team, Dongfeng Sharing-VAN 1.0 Plus was mass-produced It became the first commercialized L4 5G self-driving car in China.
    “We have created a new speed in automobile research and development.” Li Kai, the person in charge of SV-BU of Dongfeng Technology Center, said that in traditional automobile research and development, only conceptual design and even model building can be achieved within 6 months. It will take at least three years to enter the stage of trial assembly of prototype vehicles to mass production and offline. “We are equivalent to less than two years of traditional automobile research and development for three years. Only by greatly shortening the research and development cycle, can we achieve the’efficiency’ of science and technology as soon as possible, and can we compete in the research and development of the’next-generation car’ Go ahead.”
    In less than two years, Dongfeng Sharing-VAN has developed three series of more than ten products: manned, it can be “transformed” into the “last mile” self-driving micro-bus, in large-scale intelligent Parks and scenic spots are used for ferrying, connecting and manned sightseeing tours; the load can be transformed into self-driving logistics vehicles, self-driving libraries, self-driving medical vehicles and self-driving sales vehicles, etc.; self-driving multifunctional vehicles for cleaning , Killing, security inspection, security and explosion protection, etc.
    The mass-produced Dongfeng Sharing-VAN 1.0 Plus is an L4 5G self-driving car independently developed by the SV-BU team of Dongfeng Technology Center. It is an upgraded model of Dongfeng Sharing-VAN, with one-key recruitment and dynamic speed limit. 13 functions such as traffic around the island, dynamic obstacle avoidance, multi-vehicle formation, automatic parking and backstage recruitment, remote control, dispatch monitoring, etc., can be applied to science and technology parks or large scenic spots with inconvenient traffic. At the same time, Dongfeng Sharing-VAN 1.0 Plus is also equipped with 5G communication technology. With the support of the Internet of Vehicles and Beidou system, it can realize remote control driving. In case of emergency, the background can take over the vehicle through remote control with a delay of only 5— 6 milliseconds.
    On September 27, 2019, the SV-BU team of Dongfeng Technology Center used remote control in Wuhan to “command” Dongfeng Sharing-VAN 600 kilometers away to enter the site of Dongfeng’s 18 million new car roll-off ceremony. At that time, the traveling status of Dongfeng Sharing-VAN was almost synchronized with the instructions of the Wuhan Control Center, which surprised the participants.
